India has 2.45 percent of the worlds land area and 17 percent of the total world population. India is the second most populous country in the world after China. About 72 percent of its population live in villages and about 2/3 of its work force is engaged in agriculture and allied activities. According to an estimate, the burgeoning population of India is expected to exceed 1225 million by 2015, requiring nearly 275 mt. of food grain, against current production of 209 mt. of food grain. Per capita cultivated land area availability which was 0.53 ha in 1950 and 0.195 ha in 1990, is expected to decrease to 0.121 ha by 2025 and 0.087 ha by 2050 putting a major challenge to meet all basic needs of our Indian masses.
Therefore, ICAR, New Delhi have been established 634 KVKs at every district to fulfilling the geographically and socially conditions of local areas by extension activities and technology transfer. In which Krishi Vigyan Kendra, , Firozabad was established in 2005 under the administrative control of Chnadra Shekhar Azad university of Agriculture & Technology, Kanpur.
Krishi Vigyan Kendra-Firozabad is situated at NH-2 and 8 Km away from Firozabad railway station near Hazaratpur Ordinance Factory (GOI). Firozabad at 12 km mile stone towards Agra. KVK is situated in South-western zone of UP (Zone-IV) semi-arid.
